Amber: The Asylum

GM: Sean McCabe
Number of Players: 5 (pregenerated)
Game type: Freeform

You wake up in an insane asylum on Shadow Earth. What are you doing here? Who brought you here? What's wrong with you? Are you really insane? Characters will be chosen at random, so will their 'malady'.

I'm Tellin'

GM: Patrick Washburn
Number of Players: 4-5 (Characters provided.)
Game type: Amber/Big Eyes Small Mouth Crossover

Your moms always said not to play rough in Castle Amber. Now someone has broken a vase that was a gift from grampa(Dworkin) to dad (Oberon). Who did it? Who cares! The first one to get to Dad and tell him is the one most likely to be believed.

Four to five players will take the roles of Anime'd out Amberites on a race through the castle to find Oberon and let him know how much trouble his or her siblings are in. Anything goes, no holds barred mayhem!

Unto the Third Generation: Interlude

GM: DJ Hyland
Number of Players: 4-8
Game URL: http://djquinn.dragonbait.com/utg.html
Game type: Campaign Interlude. Characters are the children of the children of the Elders, built on 175 points, usually affiliated with one of the noble Houses, though not necessarily.

Two thousand years have passed since the death of Oberon, and the Houses of Amber have taken their sides in the war for his throne, among other things. In Amber, there is politicing and backbiting and alliances are shifting. But in Shadow, the great-grandchildren of Clarissa have found something that could bring it all crashing down.

Some people will be playing characters from the ongoing Unto the Third Generation game. This is not an episode in that campaign! This is an interlude. Some of the characters will be the same, but the on-going plots will be all but missing. This game takes place in Shadow, *not* in Amber.

Players should contact the GM before the Con about creating and introducing their characters, or else they will be playing the grandson of Delwin, a giant slug.

Slot 2 - Friday, 7:00 p.m. to midnight

A Sword in the Darkness

GMs: Michael Curry & Jennifer Jackson
Number of Players: 6-8
Game type: Shared World. Characters are pre-generated by the GMs.

In the wake of the disastrous Battle of Garnath, the Black Road has encroached upon Amber itself. Amber Plantation lies in ruins, its stately cypress trees reduced to burnt husks. The fate of many of the Royals is unknown. Trump has temporarily failed throughout Amber and in the Golden Circle; an isolating tactic no doubt wrought by the macabre rituals of the sorcerers of Chaos. Benedict's army is staging a strategic retreat through Shadow, allowing time for Amber's greatest General to assemble a strike team for a special mission in the hopes that its success will allow him the edge he needs to continue to resist the forces of Chaos.

Until the End of the World

GM: Nicole Gustas
Number of Players: 4-8
Game type: Crossover
100 point characters; should be from some corner of the Buffyverse. Email GM to discuss before convention begins.

It's May in Sunnydale, which means...

ah, yes. It's time for the end of the world, again. This is your opportunity to be Buffy, or Xander, or Spike, or Marcie the Invisible Girl, or anyone else in the Buffyverse. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to discover what brought on the forthcoming Apocalypse ("May Sweeps" is NOT an acceptable answer!) and stop it, preferably while spouting witticisms left and right.

A Lonesome Night in Slave Labour Graphics

GMs: Matt Andrews & Sean McCabe
Number of Players: 5-10
Game type: Crossover. Pre-generated characters will be provided.

On a Lonesome Night in October, the stars are right. The time and the place are set. The wall between worlds grows thin, and the stage is set to release the Elder Gods from their prison.

Will they be unleashed upon a hapless world? The decision, this time around, rests in the hands of characters from the Slave Labour Graphics universe; Lenore (the little dead girl created by Roman Dirge), Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (by Jhonen Vasquez), Invader Zim (green alien created by Vasquez for the Nickelodeon cartoon of the same name), and others.

Inspired by TBR 2002's "A Shadow over Amber," which in turn borrowed from Zelazny's "A Lonesome Night In October." This game uses Amber mechanics, SLG characters, and Zelazny's plot.

Familiarity with at least one of Lenore, Invader Zim or J:tHM is strongly recommended.

Slot 3 - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Amberclaw

GM: Jack Gulick
Number of Players: 4-6
Game type: Recast. Game system will be taught. Characters will be generated by email prior to the con.

It was starting to end, after what seemed most of eternity to me.

I attempted to wriggle my toes and was rewarded by the scrape of claws against metal.

"Huh." My short exhaled confusion echoed in the empty room around me, a room that still swam a little as I looked at it.

What did I know?

I'm in a bed, in... yes, it looks like some kind of a hospital room. My head throbs, even turning my head made me more than a little dizzy.

And I seemed to be some sort of talking bear.

Amber crosses into the world of anthropormorphic fantasy as a familiar story unfolds under the influence of Ironclaw and Jadeclaw from Sanguine Productions.

Rules will be taught and (horrors!) dice will be used.

Random House

GMs: Nicole Gustas, DJ Hyland
Number of Players: 3-6
Game type: Crossover
The characters will be 100 point characters - they will be based in the universe of Thursday Next but can have some Amber powers, to be decided between the player and the GM.

YOU are a SpecOps employee. (Here is a list of divisions of SpecOps - you may select any division from SpecOps 12 to SpecOps 34.) Your job is to fix Weird Shit that happens. Someone has just called your office to inform you that a character has been abducted from Roger Zelazney's novel "Nine Princes in Amber." Perhaps you're a specialist in science fiction. Perhaps you just read his books as a hobby. Maybe you've never heard of this Zelazney guy. Regardless, your mission (which you're choosing to accept if you participate in this game) is to track down the kidnapped character - which may involve a trip into the Amber books themselves!

This game takes place in the universe of Jasper Fforde's "The Eyre Affair," but no knowledge of the book is necessary - just a desire to invade the Amber novels. Some background on the universe can be found here, and more will be provided by the GM via email. Characters with backstory are encouraged - you give us backstory, we'll use it! Character development will be done before the game, via email.

If Wishes Were Horses

GMs: Deb Atwood & Bridgette Ruggles
Number of Players: 6-8
Game type: Shared World, Freeform.

Flora said it was just going to be a simple garden party when she told you attendance was required. Only now... it's not so simple anymore.

Social Event - Saturday, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Slot 4 - Saturday, 7:00 p.m. to midnight

On Her Majesty's Secret Service 5: You Only Llive Twice

GM: JP Brannan
Number of Players: 2-6
Game type: Serial
Players should create 65-point characters who are agents of the Rebman Secret Service (RI6), without Pattern Imprint or Logrus Mastery.

Once again Queen Moire has called upon her Secret Service to sort things out. But will even the elite agents of Gemini Section, licensed to kill or be killed in the line of duty, be able to stop a scheme this far-reaching? Players should create 65-point characters who are agents of the Rebman Secret Service (RI6), without Pattern Imprint or Logrus Mastery. Some knowledge of the post-Patternfall Amber game setting will be helpful, but a working knowledge of James Bond will be more helpful. Players are encouraged to contact the GM ahead of time.

A Moment in Time

GM: Tracie Michlin
Number of Players: 3-6
Game type: Shared World. ~150 points. Advanced powers and special items must be approved by GM. No children of Brand.

"And you Brand...With bitterness do I regard your memory, mad brother...I wish you had never been born and failing that you had died sooner."
--Corwin, "The Courts of Chaos"

What if Brand had never been born? Stuck in the past, you must stop Brand's birth before it happens. Failing that, you must kill him as a child. Otherwise, you may never go home...

The Scooby Chronicles: Sanguis Christi

GM: Michael Curry
Number of Players: 6-8
Game URL: SC:SC
Game type: Non-Amber. Characters will be pregenerated by GM.

Carly is missing. Again. It's probably not the end of the world, but still... it's never good when the Slayer disappears. Covering for her is often a full-time job in any case, and every now and then she gets in over her head. She's been gone longer than usual, this time, and, as the friends or allies of the Slayer, it's up to you to put aside your differences (at least for now) and rescue her from whatever mess she's gotten herself into.

The year is 2012. During the past decade the American economy has collapsed, and both unemployment and inflation have spiraled out of control. Urban centers have fallen quickly into decay, as most large corporations have moved their operations out into the suburbs, and this has left a vacuum that is gradually being filled by the forces of darkness.

General knowledge of the concepts of the Buffy-verse is a must for this game, but an intimate knowledge of all things Buffy isn't at all necessary. Please note that, though this is a diceless game, it is not in any way an Amber game.

Slot 5 - Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Life, the Universe, and Everything

GM: Glen Seymour
Number of Players: 3-8
Game type: Freeform

A new universe has been brought into existence. You are a god of the new pantheon. What are you the god of? Do you live in a version of heaven, earth or hell? How do your people worship you?

This game will cover the millenniums as your universe grows, and possibly dies.

Playing Favorites

GM: DJ Hyland
Number of Players: 4-8
Game type: Crossover. Pre-generated characters will be generated at the con. Players will play their favorite character from any game they played in during TBR 2003.

It's Sunday morning. You're tired. You've been gaming for forty-five hours, minus about three hours for sleep. All you can talk about is the kickin' version of Flora you played in slot 3. So, relive the glory. Get together with half a dozen other people and play all those memorable characters one more time.

Sure, there'll be a plot. Something to do with the universe and Shadow and threats to all existence. But that's nothing compared to reliving the glory of slot 3.

Behind the Curtain: Lost Sock, Arizona

GM: Louis R. Evans
Number of Players: 4-6
Game type: Freeform. The GM will provide pregenerated characters for this game.

Nothing ever happens in Lost Sock...until now. The "Mayor" Black Shandy is dead, and it looks as though an Extra somehow did the deed. If Extras start acting out, it might attract the attention of Thespians, or even one of the dread Playwrights, and then who knows what could happen. Everyone's afraid to speak up or get involved, but if someone doesn't do something then Lost Sock could be doomed!

Now, it's up to the few folk either too slow to flee or to hard up to get away to solve the mystery before they all get cut during the rewrites.
